BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who lost Lok Sabha elections from Thiruvananthapuram against Congress’ Shashi Tharoor reacted to the speculations of his retirement. Refuting speculations, he said that he is becoming a full-time party worker for BJP and 'Sipahi' of Narendra Modi. On losing elections in Thiruvananthapuram, he said that he doesn’t see it as a defeat, but as the first step of BJP in the state.
He said, "No I have not retired at all. In my social media post, I was relinquishing my 18 years of being an MP and now becoming a full-time party worker for the BJP and 'Sipahi' of Narendra Modi for working for his vision of Viksit Bharat. I don’t see the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha Result as a defeat for me. The proportion in which Kerala people supported me and the PM Modi’s vision, I see it as a very important first step. We achieved 20 per cent of votes in the state."
