Instructions very vague. What’s this rubber or nylon ring all about ? Looks like there’s three places it could go. I’m assuming you just remove the old catch Strainer and drop this one in . With no glue or pipe dope ( because you’re going to pull it out as needed to empty basket . I’m very curious as to how it seals and doesn’t leak. No instructions on any of this.
I’m afraid they will leak.. especially if I’m trying to hold water in the sink.

These are terrible. I have them in my bathroom and they get gunked up and corroded and now they just don't work. If you push them down they get stuck and you have to remove the pipe to unlock it.
