It really does not matter, if people think🤔you are an American visiting their country🤷🏻‍♂️ Just be yourself, it's fine — as long as you're a good respectful person, then be as American(or not) as you wish to be.
p.s. Coming from America is a nice thing, in my view. hello from Europe

I had been an expat living in Belgium for about 2 months when I began to realize people stared at me a lot. I thought it was my Texas accent. But came to realize it was my colorful clothing. (they mainly wear neutral colors!!) So as soon as I adopted wearing black head to toe it stopped!! For the next few years unless I "spoke" they did not know I was American. My day to day shopping and going out completely changed. Others no longer took notice of me. It was quite a change.

My German friend says Germans are glued to their cell phones, too.

In fact, more than fannypacks, it is easy to identify an American tourist by their huge backpacks always with a small water bottle handy!

So don’t talk to anyone, look at anyone, don’t compliment people or say hello just act like a introvert when I go abroad ? Interesting 🤔

England is my favorite Country to visit, have family down in Brighton and regularly visit them. Had an uncle that served in the RAF as well, took me to many different RAF Airfields when I was younger.

I’m British and absolutely love Americans. They are so friendly and warm. Americans are my favourite tourist. If I had to say choose one negative thing about Americans it would have to be ...They are NOT shy lmao 😂 I absolutely love that. They are so confident. Is there such a thing as a shy American? lol hahah I’m actually laughing at my own joke 😂😂😂😂😂😂. The only way I can tell the difference between An American to A Canadian is Americans are way nicer people. This is just my own personal experience with Americans.

I felt very much on the outside looking in going to Copenhagen, Rome, and Amsterdam. People constantly looked at me weird. It was actually a good experience for that reason. A total shift from what I’m used to

1. They are loud
2. They pronounce r’s very hard
3. Often times when they drink alcohol its probably beer
4. They always try to use the Imperial system
5. They say dude a lot
6. They always talk about Nba or Football

The secret behind why many Americans wear white socks is because clothing companies popularized them in order to increase sales (white socks tend to look more worn than darker socks over time, and hence they are replaced more often. "$"

England, England, ~ England is my *very favorite place* to travel to!😍 ... It’s *so dreamy* (in most parts). I wanted to move there so much, after my last visit, but ah, alas, beautiful, sweet America is and will always be my home sweet home! (Cue: “America The Beautiful” here!🎶) 🥰😍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

There are different tipping cultures in Europe depending which country you are. Some countries have quite similar culture than US and it is rude if you don’t leave tip.

A typical American thing is that you see America as one country and the rest of the world as another. Take things like tipping, for example, it differs a lot in different countries.

Sorry but most of the observations probably apply to other countries as well. There are non American tourists who walk around wearing shorts and baseball hats. I agree with the tipping thing and talking loudly. American tourists would not leave home without their favourite sun glasses though!

I think most Americans want you to know they're American straight away

I'm a loud and fat American so people in Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America spot me fast. Sometimes it's okay to embrace the stereotype.
