About a year ago I learned that my aunt knew Toro y Moi before he made it big and actually went to a listening party he hosted in his early days. I was shocked to know that he’d come from my hometown of Columbia, SC and was amazed when I watched this video because the flea market this was shot at was one I went to a few times as a kid. I say all this because it’s important to give back and acknowledge your hometown roots when we go out into the world and fulfill our dreams. You never know who it might affect and just watching this video gave me a since of place and pride for my hometown. Go and be that for your community and the beauty of it all will find you in time!
