Pencak silat is not for sport but it was made for self defense and killing as most of it focuses on vital areas such as neck, heart, groin and others. I'm from Malaysia btw and my family inherited pencak silat harimau

Pencak Silat is a self defense technique that exposed your opponent weaknesses and use it to immobilized or kill them. That's why it is forbidden to be used in the UFC or any MMA sports. And yes, Pencak Silat is very effective on a street fight. The dance part is only for show. When in real combat, they won't use it they are just gonna break your body or kill you. That's the main goal.

My friend told me that real silat fighting does not have any excessive movements. It even looks unattractive like little kids fighting while hugging each other. But their movements are aimed at vital points and are very dangerous.

NO, silat deadly move has not allow in UFC or MMA. Silat by design is focusing attack on weak point on the opponent body such as eyes, neck, groin etc

It is deadly. I saw some people who had learned some other martial arts like judo, karate, and taekwondo; they said those all made for self-defense. It can kill, but essentially for self-defense.
While Pencak SIlat, even Robert Pattinson, after he learned it, said, "I never knew that there was a "self-defense" that means to kill. It's all about brutal attack."

Silat not working on MMA, because of the rules. You can't attack his vital points, genitals, throat, poke his eyes, Etc. MMA should rely on endurance, and blow-for-blow, not life and death combat.

Just like when you are being choked, you are not allowed to poke your opponent's eyes to break the choke, or hit his genitals, or press the side of his sternum until it breaks.

All martial arts are probably like that, there is a line between rules that are just for entertainment and those for real life survival.

silat words comes from words of solat, thats why people who do pencak silat do not wear revealing clothes. its a part of silat. we must wear proper to cover aurat. silat is not for mma because silat is for protecting ourselves and for our country.
