Indicies | Fractional Indices 2 (negative) | Laws of Indices | Maths GCSE [2020]

Fractional indices are important to work with as they helps us to simplify expressions, manipulate algebra and can prove more useful when we tackle problem solving skills.

In this video we cover more complex fractional indices - such as 2/3, 3/4 etc..

In the next video we will look at negative fractional indices and even solving fractions to a power fractions!

A brief introduction to indices:
Indices are one of the fundemental aspects of mathematics. It is mostly used when working in algebra - when we have to simplify expressions (which we will cover in another video), and is particularly useful when manupilating algebra. In maths, or in life generally, we may need to short-hand (short-cut) things to help us calculate a complex problem. It is easier to short-hand rather than having to re-write the longer version of things - this is where 'indices' come in.
