Playing Trumpet: How to Fix Spitty Unclear Tone

This is a short video that will help fix a common beginner trumpet player problem, spitty tone.

I'm a returning trumpet/cornet player, and I definitely have had quite a bit of a problem with spitty sound coming from my cornet as I play. I just didn't know what I was doing wrong! Then, I watched your brief video here, and you said (in essence) that a spitty tone happens when you have your (upper) lip moved forward - and not even with the rest of a proper embouchure position. So I tried tightening my upper lip and moving it back against my teeth, (and even with my lower lip), and lo and behold: the spitty sound was almost completely gone! Actually, I think that I may now have to take some time to try to "unlearn" certain of my improper embouchure technique(s) and bad habits.

But hey - I'm now well on my way to being completely cured of my spitty sound problems, and for that, I thank you very much for your having shared what you did in your video - that is, about having problems with a spitty tone (sound) when you play a trumpet (or - I suppose - any other trumpet-like instrument).

my tounging is spitty on atack not my sound or long tones im colecting too much spitt in the mouthpiece when im tounging how can i fix it ? or what am i doing wrong

i got a bad over bite so it’s really hard to play with both of my lips equal, plus i just got braces so it’s really painful, used to be able to play up to a triple g now can’t play sbove a middle c 😅 (i’m a freshmen btw)
