Since the median m is already (a+b)/2, you can get away with only two substitutions (instead of three) if you do A = m • h once you know the value of x.

Indeed, since x = 7/2 and m = 2x + 3, you get that m = 10, and A = 10 • 6 as expected.

We can simply plug in the value of x in the length of median 'MN' multiply it with height
Instead of plugging in the value in both parallel lines

Another technique is m * h


Since we know that
m= (a+b)/2

m= 10 units
and since we know x= 7/2 units

h= 6 units

A(Trap) = mh

A(Trap) = 10*6
A(Trap) = 60 sq units


Got it in less than a minute and solve it immediately after seeing the thumbnail.

Once you find the value of x, then easily area can be calculated instead of following long procedure.
Multiply(2x+3)*(2x-1) with the value of x.

(7x-20+3x+5)/2=2x+3
10x-15=4x+6
6x=21
x=7/2
A=(7-1)(7+3)=6×10=60 square units

Thank you, but that one seemed unnecessarily complex.
(10x-15)/2 = 2x+3 balances to x=3.5. 2x+3 (given) is the average width which gives 10 and multiply by (7-1)
