Heard you on 12m yesterday while we were out for POTA. As a qrp guy, I always chuckle when someone says "only 100 watts" Thanks again and 73

Loved his reaction and yours. “Hey Walt, are you that YouTube star” ❤ your reaction was solid. Love your style.

It’s essentially the same thing as the Chellegance MC-599 antenna. I got my Technician ticket last July, and the MC-599 was my first antenna. I used it on a similar tripod with some small guy wires with some tent stakes. I’ve spoken to Moscow, the Canary Islands, all over South America, and out to Hawaii and Australia with it all with an IC-705 and a small amplifier.

I really enjoy your videos. 73 from Jim KF8BWD.

Happy to see the Yaesu. I am very impressed with mine. Still carry the G90, but the Yaesu is on another level.

Congrats on FT-710, it's an awesome radio. I got the red chinees antena and and JCP-12, both work like a charm, all tested with G90, 710 too big to lug around. Maybe one day I will catch on the air. 73 from IL KD9ZNA

The FT710 can be deceptive as to actual signal strength because the audio on it is SO good. I've often called off a signal report of 59 based on what I was hearing only to see when I actually looked at the meter it was more like an S5! Great radio!

That was some great work with the MA-50 antenna ! I was going to say put that tripod in your drive over flag holder and stuff a pool noodle in it . That sea food looks good ! Love that you tool that FT 710 out on battery. Great radio for that ! 20 AH is fine . that give you a few hours at 100 watt. Radio peaks like 21-22 amps SSB. Love how you set that water fall display ! I do not like the 3D but some do . I hope you noticed how good the RX was on 710. And their is filters you can adjust . Remember that has 6 meters as well. Around summer that band opens up. it is windy and cold in NY as well . Cheers !

Oh man, the ft-710 and a telescopic whip. I transport that wherever I go. With that combination I reach deep into Europe from north Georgia easily. Great video as usual.

Absolutely love the 710! Best money I have spent in the hobby so far, and Greg (KJ6ER) is such a cool guy and great ambassador for the hobby. Always a treat to work him and Uncle Oscar. Any day doing radio is a good day, and yeah, I'd pull the center mast out of the tripod and use the drive on.

Nice new antenna. You missed all of the fun down in VA this past weekend. Hope to catch up with you soon! 73!

Got that antenna last fall, I've used it as low as 7 1/2 feet off the ground and made contacts including DX to Europe with it. I've tried it on 20, 17, 15 and 10m. Great antenna! and no tuner needed...My set up is an Alinco DX-SR8 running about 125 watts with a Heil PMD 6 headset and a 32 amp/hr LiFeP04 battery. Going Downeast in a couple of days and setting it up at an oceanside resort in Bar Harbor MA (we don't consider Bar Harbor ME! LOL), if they don't throw me out i'll do it again next week! 73 de KB1TCD in Mid Coast ME

That looks a cracking little antenna Walt and i like the way it compacts down in that tidy little bag. Definitely one to try. Thanks 73

Hey Walt, great channel! I found you last week and watched a bunch of your videos. Next time at the beach with your setup and need guy wires, bring three 5 gal buckets and some rope, fill the buckets with sand, spread the buckets around your Jeep and no more worries about wind. 73's, Dan K2DLW

Congrats on the yeasu 710. I've been using one since November 24. Very good radio. One of these days, I'll get lucky and make contact with you.

Great location Walt, and a lot of fun on the air with nice people. We don't have this kind of seafood restaurants fast-food style here in France. They're more formal... and expensive. The prices at that place look quite reasonable for such good fresh seafood.
Best 73s, keep up the good and positive contents here

Another great video Walt. I followed you down the G90 path, wire antennas and now also wanting a 710. This dipole looks great but gotta put it on a downstream wish list. Thanks so much for all you do. Really hope to connect with you someday. 73’s from the heartland of America, KD0HOT 🔥
