I treated myself to some new quilting notions and fabric from Missouri Star Quilt Company! It was my first time ordering from this company and I am so pleased I did. Like many of you, I enjoy their YouTube videos and wanted to show my support through making a purchase. I'm also thrilled to be upgrading some of the notions I have used and loved while beginning my quilting journey. Although there's nothing wrong with the items I have, I've learned what works best for me over the past two years to help me create the best product possible! Take a look as I share what I got and my first impressions using these fantastic items.

I loved my brief visit to Hamilton. Only had a little time to explore before the family wanted to move on. But can’t wait to go back by myself and spend time.

I do not care for the ergonomic rotary cutter. I like the one you just got. It works great for me. I have been quilting almost 35 years, and ended up upgrading to Creative Grid rulers. I have more than I should probably. 😂 I love the quilt kit you purchased and I have been fighting myself on buying it.

I got a Lori Holt seam roller in a Sew Sampler, and it is so nice. It is bigger and wooden and so easy to use. Upon opening the box, I thought, I'll never use that. It is always beside my machine now. I will also suggest a clapper if you dont yet have one. It really flattens your seams. My husband just made me one with some scrap maple wood. It's made a big difference in my blocks.

If you like the idea of an ergonomic rotary cutter, Olfa does make one. I have one and used it for years already. I've had both thumb joints it my hands replaced and this cutter is easy on my hands. Love it. Suzanne

Omni Splash cutter - it’s amazing. To push it to the moon - add an ‘Endurance’ blade. Pricey but worth it!!

I can't believe you are just ordering from Missouri Star. Every night at midnight, they change their deal of the day, and you can get some good products at a good discount. They also have other daily and weekly specials. Their black Friday specials at Xmas time were very good. Also, if you are concerned about getting a good cut from your rotatory cutter, you might want to try blades from Kai. They don't just have great scissors. Their blades cut so effortlessly. Sew amazing. Happy sewing.

Creative Grids is the best. Try the Stripology rulers and you’ll be hooked!

I love my Creative Grids rulers. The smaller lines were my deciding factor. The thicker yellow lines of other brands always threw me off. I still have that ruler and use it to hold prepared binding 😂 Excited to see you complete Edelweiss kit. I plan to use a print from Rosemary Cottage for my backing and TBD on the plaid border that is not my fave.

Tiffany @ Tiffany quilting life, uses the roller on her seams quite often.

Try standing when you are cutting your pieces. You will have less shifting and a more accurate cut

I am a much newer quilter even than you, but I was reading a bunch of comments on troubleshooting rotary cutter issues & a common theme was accidentally inserting 2 blades stuck together. I think you said you had changed your blade, so maybe you grabbed 2 unknowingly?
