ESPHome and Home Automation With Home Assistant - First Steps

I started using Home assistant about 2 years ago on a Raspberry Pi and love it. I also use esp home on several esp32, esp8266 self builds, zigbee devices and reflashed plugs. But the weak factor is the SD card in the RPi and I lost configs several times. Now I switched to an old HP deskpro with an SSD disk on a UPS and running debian with docker. This not only makes Home Assistant blazing fast, but also far more reliable. It is running your house, so reliability is a thing ;-) There are several videos on YT how to install this in a few minutes, even was able to restore my RPi config of Home Assistant. Node Red is also a very capable add-in and use grafana for statistics... anyway enjoy!

You can make all the automation on the esphome devices so you do not need any other automations and it will run without home assistant running. And there is a add on for visual studio code to make changes in the yaml files makes it bit easier

I´m doing my first step into Home automation, despite I read and watched a lot of videos about the this subject.
I'm running HA into VM. I'm trying to connect a camera with esp32 CAM into HA. I'm trying following yr video, in order to carry out this goal.
I already did the instalation of the ESPhome addon on HA. Where should I install ESPhome with Pyton into the VM or in any other folder of my computer?

I have stuck with the screen showing "preparing hass.io, can take up to 20 minutes." (not able to run hass.io on Raspberry-pi yet)

Do you know what will happen to the thermostat in ON state if the WiFi is lost - will it continue to heat until reconnects to WiFi?

The issue with ddns it's not about the client's OS .. your router must to support ddns... when a new device into your lan request a IP addr to the DHCP service... its assign an ip, get the requester hostname and crear a record into the router DNS... .
