Ancient Miletus is an abandoned city from ancient Greece located in what is now Turkey, near the mouth of the Maeander River. It was first occupied in the Neolithic period, around 3500 BC. Then in the Bronze Age, a small group of settlements here turned into a centralized city. It began to trade with the Minoan civilization, and it flourished. Ancient Miletus turned into a great Mycenaean stronghold before eventually being conquered by the Hittites.
