DIVINYLS Ain't Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore EXTENDED VIDEO

A later hit for Aussie superstars Divinyls but unbeknownst to me until posting that 'Ain't gonna eat out my heart anymore' is a cover! First recorded nearly 30 years before this wonderful hit, various artists have memorialised it since the Young Rascals first released it in 1965. I have always beeen fascinated by Christina Amphlett as her edgy mix of sexuality, grunge, attitude and vocal gymnastics has all added up to one of the most charismatic lead singers Australia has produced, and that is saying something with a history of iconic front men (and women): Michael Hutchence, 'Shirley' Strachan, Daryl Braithwaite, James Reyne....Chrissie was taken from us way too young and although the rest of the world knows the band best for the 1990 smash 'I Touch Myself', the Hall of Famers recorded a string of hit singles and albums between 1981 and 1996. This extended version is curiously only 30 seconds longer than the one issued on the cd single. But more is more! And i've re-edited ever so slightly the original clip to this other version. Long live the spirit and music of Christina Amphlett.

I loved the Buffy film. So much so, I never could get into the TV series all those years later. This song was a great part of the film, integral even to the nostalgia. I want to find a HQ version of this video now.

So so many times I'm also surprised that such and such song is a cover. I have a theory that more often than not, bands break into the charts with a hit that's a cover .... and from then on we get to hear there own material. One of my biggest "cover surprises" was The Angels classic "Am I ever gonna see your face again" !!! P.S. and I did not know that this Divinyls song was also a cover! P.S.S. Divinyls would have been "top of list" for bands to see reformed as I missed them first time around :-(
