Webinar |The Direct Strength Method in Cold-Formed Steel Design

CFS is unique in its design due to complex buckling considerations which must be accounted for. Traditionally, the Effective Width Method (EWM) was used to account for buckling considerations, but now the newer and more accurate Direct Strength Method (DSM) is available and encouraged by AS/NZS 4600.

Join ClearCalcs’ Head of Engineering R&D, Brooks Smith, as we teach you all about the Direct Strength Method and take you through how to practically make use of it in real-world designs.

Excellent explanation of the modes, just what I was after.

The Aluminum Design Manual also permits design of aluminum sections per the Finite Strip Method. I have never attempted it but would love to as it could be great for complex shapes like window mullions. The first big obstacle was the effort it would take to create cross sections for some of the more complex shapes.

Do you have any references or examples of how that might be implemented? Is it possible that ClearCalcs might add this a design module? I don't believe there is anything like it on the market.
