8000 Year Old Fortress Discovered In Siberia!

Thousands of years before the ancient people in Europe and Eurasia learned how to farm there were hunter gatherer groups in the subarctic building fortified settlements, these permanent settlements challenge the notion that agriculture was needed for a culture of people, or in other words societies, to settle down in one location.

There is another example of a historical hunter gatherer group who built permanent settlements. The "complex hunter gatherer" societies of the North American Pacific Northwest. They built permanent villages along the rivers where they settled to catch the seasonal runs of salmon.During salmon runs, they could catch a years worth of food in a few days. Their societies are settled and very hierarchical and warlike, which are all things that hunter gatherer societies arent"supposed" to be according to most anthropological theories.Their settled lives with easily stored foods basically make them live like farmers without the farming
