so brahmsian, but still so genuine Dvorak :). from time to time I fall in love with his music and discover again and again this concerto, not only the symphonies oder Cello Concerto. thank you for posting this :)!

Thanks. I just love Czech composers and I hadn't listened to this concerto for a while. It's a beautiful and exciting work. To me the style seems similar to the piano concertos of Saint-Saens.

many critics (more than performers) find the score unaccomplished, awkward, weird, full of weaknesses, and say that Dvorak was not a pianist... Brahms was not a violinist: are we going to trash his violin concerto?

Just listen to this music. It is full of themes, ideas, it is strength and smooth at the same time. And his melodies and reveries are simply perfect. Romantic but not too much.

Harnoncourt found it a wonderful piece of music and recorded it...
