Hi All,

I have detailed 2 things most of you would have done but they are here at the start of the video. We then go through the last 7 days and my updates!

It seems a single Land Rover Insurance will be very high but Multi-car policy’s are still ok although a higher rate.

I will work on the security video this weekend to get out on Sunday evening.

Thank you for your support.

Richard

Keep at it Richard, £10k minimum insurance is crazy. Range Rover will be finished! I’ve got a 2023 RR are these suffering the same theft problem?

I don't own a JLR product but obviously I sympathise with the poor buggers who have been affected.
I really admire your resolve Richard and the determined way in which your tackling this issue.

Trading standards should ban JLR from selling any new cars in UK until they sort it out. It’s not just RR owners that have to suffer. It’s everyone in the area that suffers. My insurance went from £800 to almost £1900. When asked why, I was told it’s because of the amount of EV’s and JLR cars in my postcode area has put the area in a higher risk category. I drive a 12 y old diesel Volvo that I can leave unlocked and no one would care about it but I have to pay almost half of cars value for insurance just because Karen down the road chose Evoque as her mobility vehicle and JLR couldn’t care less if she will have it on the drive for one week or one day.

I couldn’t afford either vehicle at present so it’s immaterial but after watching your videos over the last few weeks. I decided to get a insurance quote on a Range Rover sport SVR 2020 plate 60k value I live in Shropshire with 6 years no claims that was £4, 600 for the year and just for jokes I got a quote on a Lamborghini urus 2020 value at £150k same as above details and that was £1, 500 per annum wow Land Rover need to be seriously offering customers an big insensitive at the present time.

If LR don't do something for all their owners surely no one will buy their product again. There will be heads rolling in the boardroom and rightly so. Good luck everyone 🤞.

I'm an ex copper (I left many years ago) and as far as I'm aware, legally, the only insurance required by law is Third Party Insurance. The fire and theft element is entirely optional. In other words, if you are involved in a crash the vehicle or property you have damaged can be repaired/replaced by your insurance company. The law doesn't care if your car goes on fire and is written off or it's stolen and not recovered. It's your loss not someone else's. These insurance companies are giving you the run around, assuming the law hasn't changed and I don't see why it should have.

As for paying £10k a year for a Range Rover, that may seem a lot but considering the purchase price of a new one, but I have just leased A Cupra Ateca VTI (310 bhp) and it's costing me £450 per month to insure, that's £5, 400 annually for a £41, 000 car.

Well done highlighting this in more detail! This is a HUUUGE problem, sounds like JLR are like an ostrich with their head in concrete!!
I’m an owner of a Range Rover Autobiography, last month I went to renew my car insurance policy, and it was more than doubled! From about £1300 to £3K !! I shopped around, but this was the best I could find.. 😢
We absolutely love the RR, but if the security and also insurance issues are not fixed, unfortunately this will be my last RR….

Years ago there used to be two really cheap insurance offers, mainly taken by first timers in desperation. They were 'Third Party Only' and 'RTA'. The last one was Road Traffic Act Only'. Obviously no longer covered - shame

Thank you for all that you are doing. I am unable to find out from my local JLR dealer, or by ringing JLR directly, when I will receive a letter from JLR to arrange for the security software improvement for my 2019 L494. ‘The letters are being phased’ is the best I’m getting. So, how long am I having to wait….no answer from JLR….despicable service.

My Jaguar Remote app (same as RR) reminds you if you’ve not locked the car. Set that on the app as a reminder also.

I have heard that Abrites and a few other diagnostics and key programming tools have already been updated to get around this update.

Good luck on the crusade Richard!

All the hassle/expense of leasing a RR because people want to try and impress others who care little about their status. A generation or so ago people driving/owing a Rolex, RR/ Mercs/ Jags etc were probably genuinely doing well in life and could comfortably afford 'luxury', either farmers or successful business owners. My device would be, the only people that you're impressing is the one lending you the finance to enable such status symbols. Any money, if you look through the average Range Rover leaser bank statement you'll find that they are probably living paycheck to paycheck each month and have very little in the way liquid assets. It's called.... living the dream LOL

Thanks for taking the time to figure these things out. JLR recently informed me that their InControl Tracker service is expiring and it costs £260 pa to renew. Would you know if not renewing this would invalidate insurance? Cheers

Just sold my 2 year old L405, I live in rural Germany, was €2000 a year to insure, now no underwriting company for JLR policies or products going forwards and existing insurance expires in 12 days time. Complete chaos. Ordered an E-klasse all terrain. Great spec and €60k less than a new RR

Interesting, but I have just put in two quotes one on an 2020 Evoque P300e and the other 2019 RR Sport. The Evoque was £600 no tracker etc and the RR Sport was £950. I currently have a 2013 Defender and pay £195. It’s down to where you live. These are for a quiet fishing village in Scotland.

Come on your finger out ! 😂
Only joking, really appreciate your time on this. I bought a 2017 RR Sport in March this year, BIG MISTAKE
I was offered 15k less to sell 4 months later... Horrendous 😢
Anyway, keep up the good work, look forward to any update, cheers.
