2017 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum – Redline: Review

A familiar name in the SUV world that likes to flip flop between a car and truck based platform, the latest 2017 Nissan Pathfinder is once again back on a car platform sporting new safety features, a spacious cabin, and the best towing capacity in the large crossover segment. Just don't plan to take it too far off the beaten path, the current Pathfinder prefers paved roads and all-weather conditions.

I have a 2015 pathy and love it!!! Rides silky smooth, plenty of power and 0 complaints. Dont know what you all drive, but this suv is great fit and finish. ground clearance is decent 6.5, for example the 94 through 01 ford explorer had 6.5 ground clearance as well. The 4x4 mode is very good in snow. The Lock mode engages both front and back 50/50 split like low range. 17 mog avg city 28 avg highway. just my opinion on these pathys. Best in my humble opinion,

my dad owned one of the original (1st Generation) Nissan Pathfinders and as I child I was fascinated by it. I hope to own one of these some day because you can never go wrong with it. Nissan Pathfinder and Ford Expedition are some of the last great cars we still have. If you're a parent and you want to buy a family car that will fascinate your children and spark their imagination and creativity, don't buy a Toyota. Buy a Nissan Pathfinder. When I was a child I was amazed that there was a cooler in the car, "How did they fit a fridge in here?" I would ask. I will always love this car. It has a cult following and many owners own them for several years before giving them up. It's also one of the safest cars you can buy for under 30 grand, base model costs 21 to 25 grand depending on the dealer.

I love my 97’ Pathfinder. I hate what they’ve done to it. The 90’s will always be my favorite.

The pathfinder is wider than the highlander and spacious and I love it

i was looking at this car in Dec mainly b/c of the lease deals/discounts. I actually liked the dated, button intensive dash - it makes daily usage so much more functional.

However, I was surprised how loud the car was and how cheap it felt for a $40k+ car. But with all the discounts it's about 8-10K less than its competitors.

Bought me a new 2019, it has USB in the rear, and front collision warning/braking, included on the S model. Got a great deal- will be happy with it for the next 6-10 years. ^_^

My parents have a 2018 3.5 S, so I’m definitely impressed with it!

I love my 17 Pathfinder. The CVT works great and the ride is wonderful.

Great Review Man. I don't understand why Nissan uses the CVT in this large vehicle. The Armada uses the 7spd auto.

I would like to thank nissan for quoting me 535 a month for a base pathfinder. I went to infiniti and lease a qx60 for 390 lol

Thank you for you in depth review and test drive! It really helps in picking my next vehicle. Youre more in depth than most people. I rented a 2017 pathfinder when my car was in the shop and I love it. It's very fun to drive and is very comfortable and smooth. I have a truck and an SUV so the length of this is not intimidating. I have 2 boys and one is 6ft tall. The backseat is very roomy and he fit comfortably. If u need more trunk room I just put the 3rd seats down. I'm going to be trading in my HHR in for either this one or an Armada. But leaning towards a pathfinder.

Seems like it'll be the best used buy in 2 years. It'll be $10k+ cheaper than a similar Highlander and Pilot, and apparently they have the CVT issues mostly dealt with. Lots of value and functionality.

FYI. R50 pathfinder (96-04) was never "car based." The unibody (they called it monoframe) was designed specifically for it.

Nice review, Sofyan! I actually really like the updated exterior styling of the Pathfinder. The exterior looks a lot more masculine and sophisticated, especially from the new front end!

Unfortunately, that interior actually shocked me! I was expecting a fairly high quality looking and feeling interior, similar to the Maxima, but to my surprise it reminded me of some of the Nissan products from a decade ago! Also, the infotainment system is in desperate need of attention from Nissan!

Passenger volume, and functionality is pretty class competitive, as well as, fuel economy figures. I just wish Nissan would update that interior design to look a little more upscale! Keep up the great work, Sofyan! You did a great job reviewing this vehicle, very concise and straight to the point review! ;-)

With the interior you all are mistaking "class" for being "dated"--it actually looks pretty nice, understated, compared to all these bombastic, swooping lines and weird designs with interiors now. You cannot change something indefinitely. Just because it came out in 2017 does not mean it's good. Interior design with cars is about how the buttons work, ergonomics, easy to see, etc. If you think you can judge a cars interior from a youtube video you're crazy. Also, all people complaining about hard touch plastics have never cleaned their own car. Please try to clean dust off a soft rubber dash and then tell me you don't like hard plastics (that you'll probably never touch anyway). The car still looks like a bar of soap from the outside and I wouldn't buy it, but some of the opinions in here are just stupid.

Extremely great review! You have been improving a lot and I'm liking it. I would definitely buy a S with FWD. I don't need AWD where I live. Wish on the S it had a regular key but maybe in the future they will go back to that. One can only hope.
