Reports of Nvidia's RTX 3090 GPUs bricking after playing a new game have been surfacing online, and while at first many believed it was the games fault, after further inspection the RTX GPUs appear to be failing due to a manufacturing defect.

just happened to me. 2.2 thousand dollars down the drain. And of course it happens at 12 in the morning, no customer support services are online, no phone calls are being accepted. really sucks.

I had a EVGA 3090 FTW3 Ultra fail already, I just asked EVGA to replace with a 3090 XC3 Ultra and to use the price difference towards to shipping. I have had zero problems with the XC3 line of cards. I think is has to do with the very high power draw of the FTW3 Ultras IMO.

The only reason you see more issues with the EVGA FTW3 3090 is because EVGA has been able to get more cards in to the hands of gamers better than any other AIB. This preticular issue has happened on strix cards to.

You should hear a popping noise when your CPU/GPU blows up, then a burning electrical smell and perhaps some smoke. Overheating can do it as well, although most modern GPU/CPU's throttle down when temps become dangerous.

Dynamic range in the NVCC corresponds to black level and not the color spectrum or space. Limited is the safest bet and most compatible with all content. On modern displays with auto black level settings, it should detect it correctly but this is not always the case.

It is a combo between the game and the weakness of that specific card. The game for some reason has no FPS limit on the menu screens so it keeps trying to force higher and higher frames and if there is no FPS cap set with geforce experience, it will keep trying to push the card higher and higher as well.

I bought an EVGA RTX3090 FTW3 Ultra and I experienced this problem while playing Destiny 2. The far left 8-pin power connector sparked and popped and then black screen... RIP 3090... BUT! What EVGA did tell me is that FTW3 3090's with the first four serial numbers "2014" are the affected cards. They didn't say what percentage of that population are bad, but in the end they shipped me a brand spanking new FTW3 3090 within a week of the problem happening. Been through a lot of RMA's and theirs certainly stands out as a great process. Also, first four serial numbers on the new card start with 2114. Hope This Helps!!!!
