BACKPACKING PERU 🇵🇪 EPISODE 1 📍PUNO

So I've arrived in Peru! My first stop was Puno, having got the bus across the border from Copacabana in Bolivia. In this vlog, I run some errands in Puno and do a kayaking tour on Lake Titicaca visiting the floating islands of Uros and the island of Taquile.

MORE VIDEOS IN PERU - oops this is the first one, stay tuned for more!

ABOUT ME🙋🏻‍♀️
I'm Christianne, a solo traveller, vlogger and entrepeneur from Surrey, UK. I spend half my time exploring new places around the globe with my backpack, and the other half creating videos about my experiences, what I'm packing, solo travel advice, money budgeting tips and anything else in relation to my backpacking lifestyle.

FAQ's
Is travelling solo safe? - I would argue the answer is almost always yes! As long as you use your common sense and you follow your own government's guidelines about travelling in that country. I have made several videos on backpacking safety on my channel.
Do you have plans to settle down? Yes, I'm currently saving to purchase my first property in the UK and I'd love to have children one day. I doubt I'll ever live a completely 'conventional' lifestyle by society's standards though, as I often have my own preferred way of doing things.

I really want to encourage those inspired to travel and who are watching these videos to really keep a curiosity and open mind to the natives and indigenous when you’re traveling. Rather than spending 2 or 3 days in each location, hopping around, doing tours with other foreigners, and just checking cities or countries off your bucket list, to instead give space and time to really dive deep into a culture. That to me is what traveling is truly about rather than just stimulating the 5 senses. Sit with people, visit their homes and families, go with the flow, and your heart and soul will be blown away and filled with love and connectedness. You can still have these short experiences when traveling quickly but it’s really nothing than when you spend more time in one place. Quality over quantity. It’s better for your soul and the souls of others you will be able to connect with. ❤️

I was in Puno in 2015 and definitely felt the altitude and never got used to it. Thanks for sharing!!

I’m so excited to watch the Peru videos! Peruvian food is literally so amazing I absolutely love it. Also for the elevation don’t feel to bad it truly depends on the person and how their body can handle it! My friend and I went to Colorado which is in the US and we were about 2000m and I was absolutely out of breath for everything! Like there was times where I legitimately couldn’t breathe. But the catch is that I am a pretty active person, I work out 5 times a week and walk around 5 or 6 miles a day, my friend who is couch bound didn’t get out of breathe once😅

The last video of your Peru series was recommended to me by the algorithm. So now after watching that video I'm starting at the beginning, and I'm already getting nostalgic. My first journey to Peru was a 7-week student exchange, which, I am now realizing, was 10 years ago (wow 😳😬), during the summer holidays before my last year of high school. I actually celebrated my 18th birthday there 😁. Most of the time was spent with my exchange family, but the organization I went with offered two 4-day trips with the other students from Germany, first to Cusco and the surrounding area, all the way to Machu Picchu, then into the rain forest. My second time in Peru was in 2017 when I was invited to the wedding of my exchange sister's older sister 😄 it was a great time and I would love to see more of the country. Maybe I will get to travel with my exchange sister sometime, we still keep in touch. I'm excited to watch your other videos!

My husband and I landed in Ecuador in September and are working our way around the country. We should be in Peru the first of March. This series is super helpful in my planning of our Peru visit so thank you! If you need any advice on Ecuador or have questions, feel free to ask! Safe travels.

That bus story is so similiar to my story in costa rica, missed a bus and the rest was sold of and so the bus ticket lady called a taxi and then the bus and we had to get in but had no idea what was happening or how much it would be and we had hardly any cash left. Got on the bus though!

The start of your journey was really quite hectic! But it's those situations that bring the fondest of memories...and good stories to share! That room in stayed in was perfect for some green screen editing! Looking forward to more of this adventure!

Really love your channel and am looking forward to this series. I’m just coming to the end of my travels in Peru so will be interesting to see your take on everything. (I’m sad to be leaving but hope to be back sometime soon so can use this series as a springboard for some more ideas!) Just arrived in Puno today so this video couldn’t have arrived at a better time!😀

Buy a bag of coca leaves from the market, and put a small amount in your cheek to remediate the altitude. Lots or electrolytes! The headaches are real so move slow for the first 48 hrs!
