Navy corpsman in a worst case and I didn't have anything to cover the chest wound, my ID card laminated in thick plastic always worked. Period. Thanks for putting this video online, people will discover that first aid might be 'grisly', but knowledge will take care of the injured person.

A soon as you have determined they have no pulse (lay rescuer) start compressions immediately. Remember it is common to break ribs doing CPR any way. Keeping blood circulating to the brain and other organs is the most important thing. Like any other wound (assuming its open) having someone putting pressure on it while you are doing CPR is an even more productive way care for the patient.

There was this young guy in a motorbike accident. He was laying there gurgling with lots of blood pumping out of his mouth. There were no signs of external injuries on his chest area, as he had a white tee shirt on. Could that’ve been a punctured lung caused by a rib.
Found out later that the young guy died on the way to hospital. He was laying there for over 35 min before an ambulance came. We all stood around helpless

Thanks for this. My brother had one yesterday because the surgeon put the screw into this lung and they had to drain the blood. He said it was very painful and he had morphine. He was in hospital obviously at the time so it was immediately dealt with.

Well, basicly what he said about a closed punctured lung was go see a doctor...

best i know is they use a needle and go in under the arm to relive pressure or remove fluids

He said a gauze that allows air to be released but then said that we want to prevent air from going in. Is that some sort of physics thing I don't know about? Perhaps like breathing out and in through a t-shirt? Because it's easy to push air through a t-shirt but harder to pull air through.

Nobody enjoys punctured lungs. 👍🏻 if you agree.

that is information for first aid students who have vaseline gauzes at hand. The ambulance crew are also in order.
Now, what can you tell us laymen and simple bystanders how to treat a victim with a punctured lung while we are WAITINg for the 911 ambulance to arrive.
Say 5 to 10 minutes.
Remember, we have NO vaseline gauzes, or ANY gauzes at hand. Just dirty t-shirts, street dirt and a jacket.
WHAT to do then ??

What the hell are they talking about, he's "not a pro-public speaker?" Public Communications is one of the things we take before we become paramedics & he's not only a paramedic but a Captain.
I honestly don't trust that an untrained person will be able to know symptoms of a punctured lung but bubbling is one of them. It's probably the one a layperson will most easily notice.

If it is an open wound should the wound be put lower to the ground than the non wounded lung?

Okay, so the guy isn't a pro-public speaker. Real question: Did you learn what you needed to know?

this dosnt say what to do in case of a closed wound.

Would you care to make a video about a person who cannot breathe due to severe facial injuries. Again, in a worse case like in a firefight with the Marines, unscrew a ballpoint pen, count 4 tracheal 'ribs' down from the top, and jam that pen case into the trachea, sharp end first. You can also use a knife, (sterility does not matter in first aid) if you have one. PS: don't do either the trach or the pneumothorax without practicing on a crash dummy.

If you get stabbed in the lung with a knife and don't get any treatment at all will you die? Please respond
