4 year old car with 2 years worth of mileage (hard to find but always doable with time) has been my way forever.

My best success came from cars that had high miles in low amounts of time. I got my car when it was like 4 years old with 90k on the clock. The car’s now 11 on like 120k and *knock wood* most I’ve needed to do besides routine maintenance was a battery and the freons once

I bought a 2003, Mercedes G 500 in 2007 four $36, 000 which was way better than the sticker price of $74, 500. Still have it, absolutely love it!

Depreciation is less... but repairs cost goes up...

Buying a Range Rover out of warranty and thinking you're saving money is wild, unless has a warehouse of parts and mechanics on payroll to fix it every month 😂

This approach is not for most, most people can not afford to maintain these European vehicles. Sound logic, but make sure you are not stretching yourself on the purchase, if so you will regret it

What about the reliability issues of Euros, and the cost of that lacking reliability, and getting stranded road side when she's driving home late night from a gathering 🤦🏾‍♀️

Yeah, I know that problem is not an MB problem, or a Porsche problem, and BMW is hit and miss depending on the model.

In a weak moment I bought a supercharged Range Rover as I got an incredible deal on it. Drove it for a year. It’s a lot of things but “fun to drive” was not one of them.

I only drive German also. But I purchase15 to 20 year old cars. Mostly BMW. E39s are currently my favorite. Nothing under 150, 000 miles. My E46 xi wagon with 215, 500 is my current racer. They are super easy to maintain yourself...

One of the cars ive been keeping an eye out for has been a 2014-16 550i GT. I drive a honda crosstour and the gt seems the most similar without going for an x4/x6 or glc/gle coupe. As soon as i heard about the GT ive wanted to at least see one but i never have but that also means theyre never for sale near me and since i want the n63 and for it to be in silver that narrows them down even more

I do the same thing. My 2013 BMW 128i was purchased 4 years old with extremely low mileage (11k), at a 35% discount from new. I’ve had it now for 7 years, and so far, only a couple of minor repairs known to be common in these cars. It has now (because it is a desirable MT car) begun to appreciate. I will probably sell it (or not) in a few years for more than I paid for it! MY 25yo 4Runner recently bit the dust, so I needed a new (old) SUV. So, I purchased a 2015 Mercedes GLK350, with 58K (about 6500/year) on its clock. These cars have a good reputation for being almost trouble-free (if well-maintained). I’ve had her a month now, and so far so good! I also have a nice NA Miata, for good measure!

I look for vehicles that are around 10 years old. At that age, they are heavily depreciated and no one really wants them. Find something with as low of miles as you can find. Something with minor cosmetic imperfections. You'll get a great value. Plus they wont go down in value. You can sell it for what you paid in a few years and repeat the process.

This is no secret but great advice. I love range rovers, currently in a 2020 sport supercharged dynamic, someone paid like $110k, I paid $58k in 2023 with 39k miles, mint condition just some paint touch ups.

If its still depreciating, its not old enough

I've had great luck buying ones that just came off lease. Usually have 40k miles and feel like new.

Same for EVs. I bought a 3 year old 30k mile Chevy Volt for $14k, 70% off sticker

I read the caption as the perfect age of a _person_ to buy a used car!😂

And there's a reason it depreciates so bad at that time.

Yup, pretty much nailed it on the head. Although I enjoy 90s cars so that's what I tend to go with.

I can't help but wonder if they are misspelling "depreciation" on screen to match his mispronunciation? Love your content, just having a bit of fun.
