Even though it’s the point of the movie, it was so sad seeing Tracy legitimately spiral. Seeing her go from saying she doesn’t want any grade lower than an A to literally having to repeat the 7th grade at the end of the movie.

What a divergence point. As Tracey's spiral gets worse, Astrid begins to get her shit together. Even that little smile as Astrid takes some pride in saying she's taking an active part in schoolwork is telling.

Tracy looks in her reflection looking for some brightness and beauty, but only finds pain and loss in her eyes, Evie has taken her to that point

I love that the other friend (the one in the bathroom) is clearly healthier and happier without so much of Evie’s influence in her life. Usually a girl like them would be embarrassed to be in a play, they’d probably view it as nerdy or lame. But she’s happier and acting like a kid again. ❤

There are so many reasons why I love this scene. Astrid shooting her an empathetic glance. Tracy staring at herself, searching for recognition; coming to the realization that she no longer knows who she is anymore and has perhaps, gone too far. It’s such a powerful scene with very few words spoken.

She’s literally rotting at this point and I think this is the scene she realizes it.

Astrid just used the biology and mermaid thing as an excuse to not want anything to do with Tracy and her issues. Remember, once Tracy was in the pack, she was slowly being phased out to the point in which Evie only brought Tracy over to meet up with Brooke, thus leaving Astrid out of the picture for a while. I cannot blame Astrid for being jealous because she was a follower. At least she does seem to take baby steps in finding her place in participating in her biology class's performing project although she does end up returning as one of Evie's followers once again.

genuinely think that Tracy took everything to the extreme, the other girls like Astrid and Medina paid attention to their classes and improved, they had a balance between partying and their classes. I don't know how Evie was doing in class, the movie doesn't mention it, but the other girls had a balance.

Trying to be cool in school really is not worth it because you won’t find your real friends that way and once you graduate all of that wanna be popular stuff won’t matter at all anymore because everyone will move on with their lives

Tracey and Astrid switch priorities throughout the movie. Tracey puts school ahead of everything else in the beginning while Astrid is more the bad girl. By the end, once Astrid isn’t inseparable with Evie anymore, she enjoys school, while Tracey no longer does.
