For some people, the initial purchase price is the most expensive aspect of owning an airplane, whereas for others, the operating costs are the most major part. But how cheap can a plane be? Let's have a look at some of the greatest planes that are not only relatively inexpensive to buy but also to maintain. I'm only going to tell you about the brand-new prices. Just keep in mind that you may acquire a used model for less than half the price of a new one.

If you are ok with a 40-50 year old plane. The 70s models Mooneys are amazing. I picked one up for 35k and got a certified 4-seat plane with all the bells and whistles (Retract gear, constant speed prop, ifr instrumentation) just need to make sure u have a competent mechanic Bc the Mooney airframes are def a little unique! Did I mention that shits fast too?

Inflation has risen and the Market prices of which is higher than the last few years ago on the same Aircraft and as long as the Money is continue to be printed out every day and through this year and next on the 172 and the Archer have all ready been answered for and yes the 206 is my best heavy hauler I’ve flown and hopefully things will level off soon for all of us all that are involved with Aircraft sales market.

I’ve been looking at planes in this class for a couple yrs now, and I have never seen a fly able Cirrus under $200k, otherwise it’s a great video.

I am wondering about the affordability of the presented planes? For me and many others affordable is the one you can buy and enjoy without having life long mortgage for it. As for personal planes, C150, C172, PA28 Warrior to J3 are the most affordable personal aeroplanes, not exotic Cessna 206 or twin PA44 Seminole or Italian P2006 or similar. C'mon, be realistic!

FYI...In case anyone's curious, this vid got me thinkin'. I live in Pittsburgh & travel to Philly frequently, so I crunched some #'s & compared driving vs renting a plane roundtrip from Pgh. to Philly (in this case the cheapest avail. which would be a 152 at a rate of $120/hr fuel inc.l). So I don't bore you w/the calculations, if I factor in my lost wages as a result of the extra 7hrs I'd spend driving vs flying, it'd cost me approx. $480 to rent a plane w/a standard 30min reserve or approx. $300 to drive, so an extra $180 to fly. HOWEVER, there's an intangible, TOLLS, WHICH ARE A CRIMINAL $50 roundtrip. Now we're talkin' an extra $130 to rent a plane. So the final que is...IS $130 WORTH IT TO DO WHAT I LOVE, FLY MYSELF, & AVOID THE PA TURNPIKE?? I'll give ya 2 guesses as to my answer but you're only gonna need 1, ha. 😉👍✌️

Dwayne's, Ties that he wears to work sells from, $2000 to $3500. And for the average Suit Jockey, they can expect to pay a modest used price of $700 to $1500 for a excellent work Tie. Hanger and maintenance costs will vary.

In 1991 I paid $15500 for a Piper PA38, Leased it to a flying school and use it to learn to fly. So long as my lessons don't clash with another pupil, no problem.

Sold it in 1995 at a small profit having got my PPL for free.

Can you do better ?

A Cessna 172 cannot make 160 knots unless you dive in it.

I think "Affordable" is like $210, 000 and under. Some you can get in really good condition for under $120, 000

I can't tell if the voiceover is computer or human (probably the former) but it needs a bit of tweaking so it doesn't keep sounding like someone reading aircraft stats while knowing nothing about aviation.

“… can only stall at 45kts.” WRONG. An airplane can stall at any airspeed. Stalls are a function of angle of attack and G-loading.

One has to be very careful purchasing this old planes! Corrosion can be a hidden danger that is not easily discovered!
