I mean, In the Hall of the Mountain King is pretty easy to remember compared to the usual Concerto in F Major for Kazoo and Orchestra Op. 43579234

It's originally Grieg: Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, "In the Hall of the Mountain King"

For those who don't know: It's called In the Hall of the Mountain King! It was composed by Edvard Grieg, a Norwegian composer, in 1875 as incidental music for Henrik Ibsen's 1867 play Peer Gynt. This isn't really the name of the piece in Norwegian. The original Norwegian name of the piece is "I Dovregubbens hall" which means "In the Dovre man's hall". Dovre is a mountain range in central region of Norway, and in the play Peer Gynt, Dovregubben is a troll king that Peer Gynt invents in a fantasy. In the play, Peer enters this hall full of trolls and goblins and stands before the troll king where there is an uproar against Peer. Peer comes across the king's daughter, and when they arrived to see him, the troll king gives Peer the opportunity to become a troll if Peer would marry his daughter. He agrees to a number of conditions, but in the end declined to become one. He pisses them off and gets chased down a hallway where he barely makes it out! The music sped up is the chase scene.

The piece actually has lyrics like "Skal han lages til sod og sø?" which means "Shall he be boiled into soup and broth?" or "Må jeg rive ham i håret?" or "May I tug him by the hair?". Yes, it's absolutely crazy but it's meant to be satire as part of the play and ultra-Norwegian patriotism and so I can see why they're proud of it

Joke's on you, my father's a retired classical musician. I'll recognise "In the hall of the Mountain King" in my sleep.

Came for the puzzle of what the song is and if I had heard it before, stayed for the absolute manic energy on display.

One will often hear this tune when in the Hall of the Mountain King. He is quite a suspenseful fellow.

The vocalizing and spoon really gave me the answer: The Ballad of Elspoon. That’s the song name.

Cool! Some of us know the name of Greig's Hall of the Mountain King. Have you ever noticed that altering the rhythm and omitting a couple of notes gives you Inspector Gadget.

This video is so magical, I can overlook the fact that it's probably one of the top ten most-known classical music song names ever. Along with Anvil Chorus, 1812 Overture, Ride Of The Valkyries, O Fortuna, Fur Elise, Beethoven's 5th, Night On Bald Mountain, It's A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood, and of course Linus and Lucy.
