Rule #1… “always be prepared” when traveling anywhere in Kalifornia… especially through the desert… lots of Water, a box of tissues or paper towels, big empty cups… healthy snacks some type of shade- umbrella… make sure tank is full and when you get to 1/2 tank… fill up. Just my professional experience of driving for over 40+ yrs.

I sat in traffic for 4 hours no update didn't know 15 was closed tried 40 4 accidents re route went back at 1am to Barstow tried 5 motel all full Findley found a room I am staying until Sunday hope I can get home.
