Sugar—it’s found in your nutrition. But just how much of that sweet compound are you consuming? Here’s a quick break down of the sugars contained in common goodies:

- 16 oz (500ml) bottle of organic juice = 240 calories and 60g of sugar

- 12 oz (375ml) of regular cola = 140 calories and 39g of sugar

- An average size banana = 110 calories and 16g of sugar

- Herbalife Formula 1 Shake prepared with 2 scoops of Herbalife Protein Drink Mix and 8oz (250ml) of water = 200 calorie meal and only 10g of sugar!

But what do these grams of sugar in your food really mean? Well, there’s another element to take into consideration when digesting nutritional facts. It’s equally important to be cognizant of the types of sugar you consume to understand how they affect your body.

For example, fructose, like the one found in our Herbalife Formula 1 Nutritional Shake mixes, is derived from the natural sugars in fruits. This type of sweet nectar is a good carbohydrate because it’s low on the glycemic index, which means it won’t spike your blood sugar level so much. Glycemic index is a method of ranking the rate in which your body converts carbs into glucose. Foods that are high up on the glycemic index rankings, like soda pop, cause sugar spikes in your blood sugar level making you feel hungry and tired after consumption.

Another aspect to consider for foods that contain sugar, is the nutritional benefits the food provides. An Herbalife Formula 1 shake prepared with two scoops of Herbalife Protein Drink Mix and 8oz (250ml) of water, contains 10 grams of fructose. But, those sweet grams are not alone. The Herbalife Formula 1 shake also contains 9 grams of high-quality protein, 20 essential vitamins and minerals and 13 grams of carbohydrates to help power your brain and energize your body to get you through the day. Plus, Herbalife shakes are also a good source of fiber which aids in your digestion without adding calories.

So next time you think about the sugar in your nutrition, think about the benefits in those same foods, like the ones in an Herbalife Formula 1 nutritional shake. Have you enjoyed an Herbalife shake today?

10 grams of sugar is a lot... plus I don't like network marketing... I simply don't believe Herbalife is good for you. I'm losing weight on a ketogenic diet of 30 grams of carbs a day or less, plus I no longer have migraine headaches... that's what works for me.
