I seen one on craigslist the guys asking 8k for it, but its turbo and he said it came factory like that!

that guy got his facts all mixed up. the mclaren mustang was made from 1987 thru 1990 a 4 year run. they were all mustang GTs and sent to American Sunroof Company (ASC). there were 1806 total and no hatchback or coupes they had the roofs cut off and made into the 2 seat Mclaren Mustang. I think he is confusing some of these facts with the Mercury Capri that was made into a Mclaren a few years earlier and since they were so high priced they didn't sell well and they turned to the mustang a couple years later. Just bought a 88 mclaren like this one mine is number 1282 on dash.Its really a good cruiser with 80, 000 miles.its red though.

ASC/McLaren did NOT use the Cobra wheels....those wheels sir, are in fact 95 Cobra this->1988 saw the ASC/McLaren's sales more than double, selling over 1000 cars for the first time. Leather seats, wheel and shift knob, ASC only center console, premium sound system, 1" lowering sport springs, and 15x7 McLaren wheels with Gatorbacks were now all standard.With the optional ground effects package, the ASC/McLaren's sleek design was a marked contrast from the "boy racer" looks of the Mustang GT. Total 1988 production was 1015 cars, the peak of ASC/McLaren Mustang
