In this clip Mimi Gardner Gates '81 Ph.D. talks with Maxim Thorne and Yale students about the responsibilities of those with wealth and urges the students and others to think beyond themselves.
Ms. Gates is a Fellow of the Yale Corporation, served as the Henry J. Heinz II Director of the Yale University Art Gallery from 1987-1994, and Director of the Seattle Art Museum from 1994-2009. Ms. Gates received her B.A. from Stanford University in Asian History; an Honors diploma in Chinese Language and Culture from the École Nationale des Langues Orientales Vivantes, Paris; an M.A. in Oriental and Chinese studies from the University of Iowa and a Ph.D. in Art History from Yale University.
