There's a lot of handy things to salvage from inside the common printer.
It’s a great hobby and pastime working on your metal lathe or metal milling machine making parts for toy steam engines, Model Steam Engines, Stirling Engines, Flame Gulper and Flame Licker Engines in your workshop modding and modifying things.

Nothing worn out or beyond repair leaves this house until I've stripped it down and salvaged the parts just like your printers. And yes I'm getting a large collection of those plastic gears and so far a use hasn't come up for even one of them. One day maybe. :-) I've found that the hardened and ground rod inside printers is remarkably round and straight. Desk top hard drives have some really good small bearings in them as well.

Yes, agree. You neglected to mention the DC power packs. These are great for electrolysis rust removal or even as a cheap battery charger.

The printer head rails are what I generally go for. The springs are also good. The gears not so much as they are generally pretty light weight. The motors are also pretty useless.
