It amazes me how when someone is so dominant for such a long time how people seem to think it will go on forever, it really is incredibly rare for anyone to carry on the same form when they have broken all records, just look at Reardon, Davis and many others in different sports. If Davis had won 7 Hendry would have won 8, it really is that simple.

There was some absolutely amazing young talent in the game back then, a lot of these guys still dominate. Funny to think Hendry was getting on a bit in his career and he looks about 12!!

As brilliant as he played in this championship, (The semi against Ronnie was incredible from Hendry) you can tell that Stephen’s dominance probably ended with that dramatic defeat & missed black in the Masters against Mark in 98. Missed a few easy balls that he would potted with his eyes closed in the 8 years previously & certainly was much slower round the table probably due to the pressure of the 7th title. His break building never deserted him though even when he struggled in his later career. A legend & one of the greatest players to ever pick up a snooker cue.
