Full step by step process for a Head Gasket replacement. This is for an Australian Holden Cruze (known as a Chevy Cruze in other locations) with the 1.8 F18D4 engine. This engine had coolant in the oil, was pressurising the coolant system and had a misfire. It was checked for CO2 in the cooling system to confirm a head gasket issue. If you are experiencing overheating it may not be a head gasket. Check all other possibilities first.

Some aspects may vary in different countries. This is the process that I used. The procedure may vary but this was used for ease of recording.

Sorry about the background insect noise.

Hi watching your videos for this repair and noticed you did not put the little black oil flow thing back in ?

How long would this whole procedure typically take? I have a 2014 chevy cruze that recently started having issues with coolant boiling in the coolant tank. I have checked the thermostat, water pump and fan and all three are functional. I have bled the cooling systen a couple of times so I’m pretty sure it’s not an air pocket trapped in the system. The only thing I have not done is replace the head gasket, coolant tank and radiator cap. I am trying so hard to convince myself that it is not a blown head gasket cause this seems like a tedious procedure 😅
