We've all been there, trying a new productivity app after another.
If you can't find the perfect one, there's probably something else you should do.

With this video you killed every "productivity expert", who only have "buy strawberrys", "reorganize your Homeoffice" and "make a video" on their todo-List. :D

You reach much more of the working world. THANKS!

Spot on! I started to feel like the time I spent bouncing between apps and systems was akin to playing with toys as a kid. I loved setting everything up but then I would lose interest and move on. I found I could lose 2-3 work days just messing with my system. I started to introduce a mindfulness approach to my work and systems that centered on certain values and objectives and that really helped me to see what I was doing was wasteful and also that I was stuck at execution.

This articulated quite succinctly, what I had been struggling with regarding picking a productivity tool or a set of tools.

As I see it:
1. Pick one and stick with it until there's a overwhelmingly compelling force (like say the app is shutting down, or the tool is constantly working against you) pushes you to find an alternative.

2. Ideally pick one that is open source and/or allows you to easily export your lists.

3. Finally and most importantly,
You USE the TOOLS to WORK,
NOT WORK to USE the TOOLS.

The video was well presented. Subscribed!

This is such great advice that I needed right now! I'm trying to implement a system for the first time for my home life, because it's gotten complicated, and I keep trying to find an app that is perfect. But your video has reminded me that "perfect is the enemy of the good". For some reason, home life task management is so much harder than work life task management, for me personally.

You gave two excellent advices for which I really thank you: i) winning mindset is a long stream of small victories; ii) choose an app that covers 80% of needs, cope with the rest and get moving! Thank you so much.

If Todoist had a note taking space it’d easily be my go to except for the most complex projects.

Extremely useful advice - it’s easy to get bogged down in the labyrinthian minutiae of “productivity” advice and miss the forest for the trees. Simplifying a productivity system to three items and giving practical and tactical advice for approaching all three components made for a refreshing video!

After trying many, at the end, I’m using analog Pocket Notebook with time blocking and bullet journal format (1 most important and 2 good tasks to complete). Using the analog method helps me not to get lost in my phone

As usual I have found your videos both informative and on target, thank you. Having been a bit of a switcher to find that perfect app, which like the Holy Grail doesn't seem to exist, I've now reverted to writing out two or three tasks into my notebook each night to do the next day. I find the act of physically writing them helps me both remember them and then focus on them the following day.
In fact I'm starting to veer back to more analogue ways of getting things done by writing stuff down and then it seems to make it easier to decide what is a priority and what is just something that would be good to do at some point.
Anyway, great video thanks again

Guilty as charged. 🥺. Great advice. Heard it before but still true. I keep flipping between apple notes and Evernote. lol

I totally agree! Why must we over complicate something that is quite simple? I might just stick with my good old fashioned notepad after seeing this!

This is a great framework. A clear breakdown of the issues. You hit the meat of the issue - my frequent struggles are with overwhelming tasks & poor execution.
Thank you for this video.

Great stuff, thank you. 🙏

A good phrase I heard to describe this problem is ‘sophisticated procrastination’: It’s not classic procrastination, like sitting in your pants bingeing Netflix or playing video games when you should be working, but it is procrastination nonetheless.

And you know what They say; “Procrastination is the thief of time”.

I agree totally - There's no such thing as a perfect app, so stop looking. Just use something to its fullest extent and get things done.

Yup, used to look for the productivity app that had the nicest UI and that never ended.

Now it’s just the reminders app on my phone, simple and quick, because I don’t need to create a beautiful task, I just need to be reminded and complete it

The optimal solution is to have an app that implements the tasks for you so that you could stay in bed the whole day.

One notebook and Apple Notes. That's all I need.
