A green little box. What does it do? Or rather, how well does it do what it does?
The MXR GT OD overdrive is a fairly basic looking pedal, with your regular features. That doesn't mean it can't be good. Personally I like simple and intuitive pedals. Some people like tweaking. I don't. I just want to get on with playing.

Sitting around fiddling with the controls of an overdrive pedal, or any other pedal or effect, just interrupts work flow, and gets in the way of being spontaneous. That's no problem once you get to know a pedal, but I don't like to sit long finding "my sound" to begin with.

I too like how the Fender pedal preserves the snap of the Strat pickups, like my 250. The MXR might be too dark for me although still very nice. Very "big" sounding.

There are some fine blues tones to be had and the Gary Moore bit was great ! I much prefer overdrive pedals to fuzz and this was perfectly acceptable - much more so after an adequate supply of beeeer !

Pull the chassis out of the pedal, flip the switch the other way, reassemble and you’ll have a ZW-44, which is a brighter, tighter, clearer, very Boss Sd-1-like overdrive.

Elmo Raakanaama Karjalainen faces off with the Mxr. I've never really liked the mxr-series. Don't know why, they build good pedals. They just don't fit well with my ears. But the review was good 👍. Funny and to the point and comparing it to the YM is the way to go. The extra voices in the beginning even scared the cat. Probably because of his masters' amused reaction 🤔 though.

I generally like MXR products...I still use my analog delay (carbon copy) but this OD pedal sounds a little dark to me...maybe the crunchy cereal overdrive you mentioned sat in the milk too long...just saying...nice demo though thanks! 🎸🔊🎶🤘🏻

Its a good pedal,
But the MXR Il Diavola is far superior, check it out..

Yes it is a little darker and i would say fatter sounding than using a standard TS pedal... i like using it alongside my Boss SD1 waza for solo boost

Did you know this pedal is actually 2 pedals in 1 ?

There is a dip switch only accessed from the circuit board when you disassemble the pedal..

If you click that switch it actually becomes the Zakk Wylde circuit overdrive..

If you still have that pedal would love to see a proper demo..there is another video showing this but I'm sure you could do a better job...
