Few things to add here: Telecom companies is yet to come out with proper standards for 5G. What "IS" or "IS NOT" 5G is yet to be clear. Huwaeii with billions of USD from CCP and most patents of 5G has a head start in the race. No other company comes close to Huwaeii on "5G" domain. Hope this move helps grow Indian companies that can compete with Huwaeii. There has been similar moves in US, UK and Canada where buying from Huwaeii is banned.

There needs to be more clarity on the claim. So far only 3 companies have 5G network hardware capacity - Huwawei, Erricson, Nokia. I am cynical about JIO being able to match their decades of experience. Does the solution involve the design and manufacture of the network hardware or Ambani is just referring to software or installation part? The former is the difficult part, while the later can be done by many companies.
