Periodontium Easy Dentistry - Lecture 1 || Teethopedia

This video provides an introductory overview of the periodontium. Periodontium is defined as the supporting an investing tissues of the tooth. There are four components of periodontium. The components of periodontium are periodontal ligaments (PDL), Cementum, Alveolar bone and Gingiva. The periodontium forms a fibrous joint between tooth and alveolar bone called gomphosis. Later in the lecture we have discussed the composition of the alveolar bone and composition of cementum. These two components are the mineralized tissues of the periodontium.
