My exact same car sounded tappety like this, the reason for the noise was that a BMW technician ? put the new cam belt on 1 notch out of place, i was told the tappets are hydraulic, can't be adjusted & they all sounded like that, a non BMW garage found the fault & fixed it quite easily, your's sounds like mine did.
