Living in the UK as a foreign person, over time you will learn to contextualize any situations and apply the right wording, without having to think about it. I feel it's next to impossible for newbies to memorise what's been said in the lesson and apply it to real situations. It takes a long time to get there, but eventually if you're lucky enough to live in the UK, or at least having the chance to frequently dialog with english speakers, you will reach high levels of understanding. Think about new born babies from zero to, say, 5 years of age. They will learn the language by contextualizing what's been said to them, and like a sponge, absorbe everything and apply the right wording in the right context. But that's the time that it takes. Good luck with that! (Oh...And throughout your life you will never stop learning. I'm 66 and occasionally i still learn new things.)
