Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Md Yunus enjoys warm hug with US President Joe Biden in New York

US President Biden met with Bangladeshi Chief Adviser Md Yunus on September 24. He congratulated him on his recent appointment as the head of the interim government. Both leaders affirmed the close partnership between the United States and Bangladesh. President Biden welcomed further engagement between the two governments. He offered continued U.S. support as Bangladesh implements its new reform agenda. The meeting highlights the commitment to collaboration between the two nations. Md Yunus spoke about how the students rose against the "tyranny of the previous government". Meanwhile, Md Yunus met Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the sidelines of UNGA. Earlier, Md Yunus arrived at the official hotel in New York for the 79th UNGA Session. He was given a special welcome as Bangladeshi nationals protested against him outside the hotel. Protesters raised slogans against Yunus saying, he is a ‘Hindu Killer’ and ‘Father of terrorists’

1. Bangladesh (BD) still depends on foreign aid in many aspects.
2. Millions of Rohingya refugees are entering Bangladesh from Myanmar. We need to send them back peacefully using international support.
3. The most significant importers of Bangladeshi garments are the USA and the EU.
4. In the case of a major pandemic, Bangladesh needs reliable vaccines at no cost.
5. We must repatriate the 12 billion USD laundered to the US, Canada, UK, EU, UAE and Singapore.
6. We need low-interest loans from the World Bank and IMF to build infrastructure.
7. Bangladesh needs to uplift its image globally.
8. Bangladeshi students seek high-quality, advanced degrees in STEM from developed economies.
9. Bangladesh needs a friend whose policies are relatively transparent and consistently reminds BD leaders about democracy and human rights.
To meet these goals, there is almost no alternative to a pro-US government. The US can support us in every aspect mentioned above. Bangladesh will also gain support from the EU, Canada, Japan, and Australia if the US backs us.
