Ingredients

1 cup sifted flour

¼ cup sugar

4 tsp. baking powder

¼ tsp. salt

1 cup yellow cornmeal

2 eggs

1 cup milk

¼ cup shortening (vegetable oil)

Instructions

1. Mix first five ingredients (flour through cornmeal). Add eggs, milk, and shortening. Beat until smooth.

2. Bake for 20-25 minutes in a 425 degree oven in a greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Be aware that a glass pan conducts more heat than a metal pan, so adjust your baking time accordingly.

Hi Billy Gene, Thank you for putting up such a sweet memorial for Sara. I began watching her years ago also. If it wasn't for her I would not have found you, Granny Pat, Tallie Faye, Come sit at my table, Whipperwill Cottage and on and on. I began looking for new video's. You are such a kind person.

I too was sad about Simply Sarah’s passing. I followed her for years. A few years back she was a top selling Tupperware dealer, doing her party’s on facebook lives. I held two party’s through her and got a lot of discounted items. She was a truly kind soul.

Hi Billy Gene, I luv your roses, it's cold here we don't have flowers yet, maybe in May. I'm sure your soup will be great. Today I made veggie egg rolls.XOXO

What a great idea to use the waffle iron to bake your cornbread in. Thanks for sharing!

You don’t get bugs in the flour stored like that? I’m making turkey/chicken soup tomorrow cuz the carcuses fell out of the freezer and I couldn’t Tetris them back in 😂
