Damage Inc. is the biggest banger on the album in my opinion. The lyrics and the solo are crazy.

IDK if anyone might've mentioned, but the reason this has such a spacey, soft opening is because it's right off the heels of the slow fade out that Orion had. So the two songs blend right into one another. Back in the day I would never listen to Orion without letting it go right into Damage, Inc. They go hand-in-hand for me. Just my opinion.

That change up of the riff in the middle of the solo is one of the brightest highlights of the album. Chills every time.

Hearing this for the first time in 1986 gave a totally different feeling. This was some of the hardest and fastest music outside of Slayer.

when it comes to fast tempos in metal, the main appreciation is not the difficulty level, it is the adrenalin rush. the “Go” in the song before Kirk’s solo, is also a call to the moshpit 🙂

Also to give Kirk some more credit, the breakdown part that you guys really like is a riff he wrote.

I figured you guys wouldn't love this one due to the tempo. That's also why I think you won't like Dyers Eve, which lots of people request. A song I think might be more up your alley off of Justice would be Shortest Straw

Damage Inc is my favourite song. Kirk shines on this one, his melody is great, the riffs are great, aggression is awesome, intro is intriguing.

Enjoyed the reaction. But you cant get any better bookends to a classic metal album than Battery and Damage Inc.

hands down one of the best metal albums ever created. the fact they were 22-23 yo when they recorded it absolutely blows my mind. Legendary

I know this won't convert you, but it's not just the skill we like about the fast thrash. It's an adrenaline thing. It energizes us. Like you guys always say, they give so many looks. "Which way do you want it?" "Yes."

THIS is the real Metallica. Pure Thrash Metal fury.
I love this shit.
Metallica is the speed, the heavy and the rage.

As a teenager in the 80’s this was one of our favorite songs. No compromise. Love it.

For me as a non-musician, good thrash raises this internal urge of agression and to express that urge by thrashing about in a mosh pit/embracing destruction. Thrash is almost an anti groove and is this primal, deep feeling of chaos...to let go and be.

That bass intro! The whole Orion bass influenced melodies and patterns. RIP to Cliff Burton! This whole album is Cliff's swan song. We lost him too soon.

I was 15 when this album came out. Once I listened to Battery and MoP I was instantly hooked and never looked back until this very day.

A lot of people aren't crazy about Damage Inc., some even saying is a lesser version of Disposable Heroes - but as a guitarist, it's one of my favorite tracks to play. The energy of it is unmatched, and the breakdown took me a while to really get down with the picking (this is going back 30 years!). So I understand you guys not being hot on it, but for me, it's a top track.

This song is a destruction, is like the calm before the storm, is like march in to death. The whole album is crazy, is pure gold thrash metal. Nothing comes close to it even today.

The crazy part is that nearly 40 years later, they still shred this song live! It's insane that they started the year I was born, and they still kill every song!

The intro is multi-layered bass tracks. Some of Cliff's best work.
