When Kasyan says "varnish", he means "conformal coating". This is something added after the components have been soldered on.

Fantastic commentary and review. Beautiful english with all the "whistles and bells". Highly detailed with passion for quality. I have a Fluke 25. It´s construction is similar to a bomb proof brick and it´s reliability and accuracy I believe is very high. I´ve never tested it against standards, but I´m confident the results would be similar to those in your review. Brilliant technology beautifully made, during a period of history when the US was at it´s zenith. Buying vintage rather than new often has the advantage of being cheaper, better quality and better for the environment. I always buy quality vintage things and repair or restore or them if necessary. It´s very satisfying. Thanks for your review.

This is the meter Shango066 uses, they are super rugged. The display fades over time but that's really the only issue.
