Have AVRs PEAKED? LIVE Unplugged with Andrew & Kristi

📝 We receive a high volume of comments during livestreams which is why SUPER CHATs receive priority. Kristi answers NON-SC comments in the LIVE CHAT BOX when possible. 🫵 MUST ATTACH YOUR ⍰ TO THE SUPER CHAT. For details, including a Super Chat HOW-TO! → → → →

🤔 Why are Super Chats given priority?
We receive hundreds of questions during a live stream, and while we'd love to answer every question if we did, these streams would never end.

🤔 Do I have to pay for a Super Chat to receive an answer?
No. Kristi responds to non-SC questions live in the chat box whenever possible. For a guaranteed response from Andrew, please consider a Super Chat.

🤔 What are Super Chats?
Super Chats allow you to pin your comments on live streams, making them more eye-catching than ordinary comments in the chat box. SuperChats rise to the top, making them easier to see & answer.

🫵 MUST ATTACH your Question TO THE SUPER CHAT for it to be answered. SuperChats without a question or comment attached are considered a generous donation. YouTube limits the number of characters based on the amount contributed.

🤔 How to Ask a Super Chat Question
While the stream is live, select the $ symbol in the lower corner of the chat window to set a monetary amount and send a highlighted comment. SC's are answered in the order received. Your SC may appear to go away but rest assured, Andrew sees & answers them all. If you have to leave before your question is answered, be sure to watch again later. Your SC will be answered!

I rarely comment on any YouTube videos but feel compelled to voice my support for both you and Kristy. It's so unfortunate that some people can't exist in this world with helpful, heartfull compassion. Thank you for putting yourselves out there. I, like so many others, thoroughly enjoy
your work.

Honestly, this whole Nakamichi fiasco has reinforced my appreciation for what you two do, and I *am* thankful that you've spoken so at length on the matter as you have. It's been illuminating, and I've appreciated the honest review, the candor around what's happened since, and calling out the behaviour of Nakamachi.

For every loud voice that complains, just know that there are many, many more people who *greatly* appreciate the honest reviews and don't really need or want smoke blown at us.

I also don't hate the glasses change for when the topic/mood changes. I kind of want it to be a thing....

You guys are the gold standard, keep doing what you're doing. Just an FYI - you need to cut your audio's low frequencies. There is a TON of rumble coming through the mics. Listen to this video on a system with subwoofers and you will be shocked by what's going on down there. This is super common on a lot of YouTube channels. You're so detail oriented that I'm quite sure you just weren't aware.

Andrew, I am absolutely appalled that a brand can engage in such disingenuous, dishonest and immoral behavior, and I truly feel for both you and Kristi for having to go through such an ordeal for simply having the integrity you both have in doing an outstanding job with Dragon your review, the unplugged and now this video. I really commend you for all that you have put out on your channel, you consistently deliver outstanding work, with integrity, and I hope you know how much we appreciate it.

I don’t understand companies like nakamichi and tekton who go after reviewers because they have some critique about their product.

It seems like they believe that they can sneak a product onto the market with a hyped brand name and marketing and go not expect people to call out stuff that they find in their tests. The flaws you pointed out cannot possibly be news to nakamichi. If it is, then their engineers must be incompetent which i find hard do believe.

If you target regular home theater enthusiasts its just a matter of time before someone notices the flaws in the product and makes a review. I mean, we are a freakishly picky and anxious crowd 😀 only matched by the enthusiast computer gear community.

Its incomprehensible that they do not shy away from going after the most professional and experienced reviewers who have a huge following and respect in the community. Its brand suicide! Better to just stay quiet and get to work improving your product.

Cmon brands, stop hitting yourselves!

It's occurring to me now that the Dragon seems to embody every "audiophile " objection to soundbars. Narrow and beamy front stage, "reflective" drivers that don't reflect as much as diffuse, anemic and poorly crossed over subs. Every connection proprietary so it can't be upgraded (except with their new subs) and it's useless if any of it fails. And apparently sound that's generally harsh.

No wonder Nakamichi is defending this thing to their death.

This is the reason why I have stopped following so many channels and so many podcast. The creators are now becoming so arrogant in their opinions that they are constantly attacking anyone who has any difference in view or opinion basically for the sake of likes and clicks or flat out entitlement. I appreciate what I have learned from this channel and will continue to support thank you Andrew and Kristy.

Been following your channel for quite some time now and enjoy your reviews. Definitely one of the best out there. It's just sad that you had to address unfair criticism due to a review, but I am glad that you did. Please keep up the good work.

Your review on the dragon is fair, and I believe what you experienced with it is what you told us. I like my home theater system, but that doesn't mean it will be enjoyable for others, and I take their opinions with a smile.

Well Done, Folks. A polite smackdown is a smackdown none the less. You are exposing cracks in the matrix which we all need. It's truly shameful that these new owners of Nakamichi would soil the brand like this. Back in their heyday, a Metal oxide tape in a Dragon deck was the closest consumers could get to a master recording, except for having a very expensive reel to reel. Hopefully these companies can realize that honesty can be a great selling point too. Better beta testing and tweaking with multiple folks could have probably addressed several of these issues before they went into production.

Love your videos and enjoy listening to you banter back and forth. Please remember us poorer people when selecting products to review ❤

Finally got to watch this in its entirety since the original was watched in between chores and getting ready for work.

I was called in to help setup the Dragon by a friend of a friend. I literally spent 15+ hours over three separate days tinkering with surround/sub placement and the settings for the bar itself, and I never approached the level of immersion that was provided by the Q990C that the Dragon was meant to replace. To my ears, the Q990C had finesse that delivered a fairly immersive experience, while the Dragon was using various size sledgehammers.

Considering that the Dragon is being marketed as an "easier" version of a full component system, its setup is finicky with results that don't match the advertising. When I still owned a small sound enforcement company, I literally spent less time setting up, running the board and tearing down for a gig than I spent tuning the Dragon, and the gigs had a lot fewer headaches.
