This is a cutler hammer type ch panel. It is code now to have the laundry circuit be Gfci protected.

I'm not sure what's happening here, are two circuits sharing the same neutral and that's why you had to turn off a different circuit? Once you find the shared neutral, that goes into the new GFCI breaker, and the pigtail into the bar. What if you can't find the neutral of the circuit you're working on? Can you just connect the pigtail into the bar without having this shared neutral plugged into the new GFCI breaker?

Nice job Joe. I would have done the same thing and NOT shutoff the main. People freak out when the wifi and AC go down even if it's for 10-15 minutes or whatever. Also, shutting off the main can be a bad move especially if its an old panel. Sometimes those springs inside the breaker DO NOT want to RESET and then you are screwed.

Why not just shut the power that the main, pop off the breaker, swap the hot lead, tie down the additional neutral and call it a day? Why trace the neutral if you don’t have to? Thanks for the content. 👍🏼
