Where should I begin? The rap song? The main protagonist lacking gravitas? Discount Phoenix? Inaccurate historical clothing? Or the fact that the story is looking near identical to the first one with less emotional investment. Also, Denzel seems out of place acting like his usual self and with an American accent

I dont think it's minor. What people think when they hear modern rap in an ancient Rome setting is a few things: That they aren't taking the film seriously, that they're pandering to black Americans, and that the film wont be as historically accurate.

These are all assumptions, but thats all people have to go off of.

Respectfully, if you think the soundtrack is a “minor” aspect to a film then you are mistaken bud. The soundtrack is supposed to complement and help with the immersion. It goes without saying for films that are perfected by Hans Zimmer’s work

I really wanted to like this trailer, and really hoped that it would have that “magic” that the first film had, but after watching this, I am very disappointed🤦🏻‍♂️

The music isn’t on the same level, the characters seem very forgetful and bland, and the story doesn’t look too promising🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

This is not a minor issue to me because it’s marketing the movie using this music. Many people who have seen the original film will think that this film, due to not only the jokes in the trailer but also the music, will not be a serious, epic film like the first

The music was out of place but it could just be for the trailer so we will see. My bigger problem was with the way Denzel seemed to act like a modern day person while the rest of the cast was setting a tone more fitting with the times…

They jumped the shark. That's all I have to say. They should have left this movie alone. There was nothing left to tell, and I would have much rather stuck with my imagination of the ensuing events after Maximus' death, rather than force some stupid narrative to make a buck. Just my opinion.
