How I Would Fix Jigglypuff in Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen

I tried to bust Jigglypuff out of jail by making her a half-decent Pokemon in Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen before taking this busted balloon throughout a singing-starved Kanto region. Can I do it? See for yourself!

Fun fact: In later generations, Wigglytuff is the best wall against Dragapult. It is immune to its stabs, can soak everything it can throw at it then use Wish to easily heal, then 2HKO with Dazzling Gleam. Pretty fun stuff, great to keep in mind in draft league.
As for the changes... yeah, I think there's not much to work with this time, and these changes may be the best one can do. It probably would've been better to check out Wigglytuff in later gens when there were more tools available.

I’d actually love for Mawile to get a little love. Her mega form feels like more of a curse since it hasn’t gotten anything permanent since.

Being based on a rabbit and having the gimmick of being extremely powerful in Mystery Dungeon lore, Wigglytuff should have gotten Huge Power as its Hidden Ability instead of, you know... Frisk.
It would have been an even stronger Azumaril with a wider movepool in exchange for lacking Water-type STAB, getting no priority moves, and having lower overall defenses.

I always thought Jigglypuff should get sketch just as like an egg move or event move or something, just as a cute little reference to the anime

Maybe this will come up later in the video - but at around 16:00 when you're discussing Wish you mention it fully healing any teammate you send in, but sadly this behavior wasn't implemented until Gen V, prior to that Wish always healed for 50% of the HP of whoever received the Wish.

EDIT: Wow, the music references for every team member were amazing, trying to see how many I could catch for each member. I can't believe you traded away ABBA though, depriving this timeline of their music.

16:04 In gen 3 it just restores half of any pokemon’s hp, not the hp of the mon who used wish. That aspect of Wish was added in gen 5.

Hot take: Let's Go Eevee should have been Let's Go Jigglypuff instead.

Jigglypuff is historically popular, it's in Smash, it parallels Pikachu surprisingly well (baby, middle mascot, stone evo), and WHY WOULD YOU GIVE US AN EEVEE THAT ISN'T CAPABLE OF EVOLVING

I’d love for Jigglypuff to learn Tailwind since it’s the Balloon Pokemon, and it could support the whole team itself

I would love to see you tackle something like Masquerein in Hoenn, or maybe a double feature of Beautifly and Dustox. Sure as early bugs they can't be amazing but they still always felt even more underwhelming than others.

Idea to make Jiggs viable and distinct from Clefable: An Ability that gives all sound-based moves 100% Accuracy. Give it access to Screech and Supersonic to get more out of said Ability. Now its Sing is a guaranteed hit and, in modern games, works as a variant of Spore that even works on Grass types.

As a bit of an alternate ability suggestion, due to the Jigglypuff line being balloons, I question why they don’t have the levitate ability. It might not be much, but it definitely adds to the design basis as the modern games have shown Igglybuff and Jigglypuff floating. Plus, an earthquake immunity would give a bit of a leg up.

For the "Tank" vs "Wall" explanation, you can also think of it like this:
A "Wall" is something that can take multiple hits pretty well. A "Tank" is a "Wall" that can deal damage.

I think "sing" and "pound" should both be learned at level 1, and "defense curl" at level 4, "double slap" at level 9, since "double slap" is such a signature move of Jigglypuff in the anime~~~

Currently using a Wigglytuff in FireRed. It's not too bad, but I'm really starting to see the whole "balloon" joke with its stats now that I'm past Erika. And I'm not really laughing GameFreak

It wasn't until now that I realize Wigglytuff and Lopunny have about the same base attack.
They have the same issue of being frail and barely strong enough to deal middling damage.
It's kind of impressive how committed GameFreak is at constantly making mediocre Pokemon.

I love how your mechanical and technical analysis/changes combine into the narrative of the run. It's great and really shows off the core identity if the Pokemon.

An almost hour long video about Jigglypuff in Gen 3? It’s almost like this video was made for me.

The wish mechanic you described was not added until Gen 5, so it actually recovers 50% from everyone

I appreciate the effort in attempting to improve upon the Normal type (as of Gen 3) Balloon Pokémon.

The highlight of this Pokémon evolution family is probably PMD2. To anyone who's played that game, you'll know that Guildmaster Wigglytuff is an awesome character.
