Ian Collins slams 'halfwit' Celtic fans over anti-monarchist banner

Celtic fans have come under fire for their use of anti-monarchist banners during their champions league game against Shaktar Donetsk.

A banner in the Celtic end was unfurled that read “F**k the Crown” while another one said “Sorry for your loss Michael Fagan”, a reference to the intruder who broke into the Queen’s Buckingham Palace bedroom in 1982.

The away fans also chanted “If you hate the Royal Family, clap your hands” during the game in Warsaw.

TalkTV host Ian Collins slammed the anti-monarchist protestors as "full blown halfwits."

As an Ex Servicemen who Served the Queen and lifelong Celtic Fan I had absolutely no issue with this.
A great many men died so we could have freedom of speech and freedom to express our opinions.

An Irish identity has been strongly imbued in the fabric of Celtic since its formation as the club was established by an Irishman. Ireland gained its independence from Britain in 1922, ending eight centuries of political and military invasion by the UK on our country. Unresolved trauma can become generational.
