“The Hood” did not have the same highs for me personally, but is a lot more consistent (on theme, if showcasing many different styles of writing) as "Robin Hood Meets Folk Horror, The Heart of Darkness/Apocalypse Now and Breaking Bad" and with characters written with slightly more empathy. Cheers

Have you read Roadside Picnic? I loved the Gawain portion of the book because it felt like a weird fantastical homage to Roadside Picnic. I agree about the language though, it was fun initially but got old after a while. This was my introduction to Tidhar but I definitely intend to read more. Do you have a favorite I should maybe bump up my tbr?

I really enjoyed it, even on rereads when I discovered even more references and connections. It is a book that is impressive to me simply by how much it packs into its relatively (for fantasy) low page-count. And there is of course the Green Knight who is just very funny to me.
