A quick Google search can tell you exactly why this movie bombed. What is funny is that nothing was mentioned about the true reason in this video. In fact this video was a waste of time, just like the movie. Ironic.

The biggest problem with this movie is that it pushes LGBTQ representation in what is marketed as a kids movie. Many parents online voiced that they weren't comfortable with their kids seeing that. And then Chris Evans, the star of the film, said that people who feel that way and "idiots".

I think for people like me, who were on the fence about spending money on the film, the star calling concerned parents idiots just killed my interest.

It's extremely bad publicity if you ask me.

When I heard Tim Allen was excluded from the project, my interested flatlined. And when my friends warned me that the movie was contaminated with woke propaganda I resolved to avoid it at all costs.

The only reason why this filmed failed is because of the controversial conversations that were released about how they changed scenes is this film to comfort to a woke agenda and how they were going to stick as much of it as they can every chance they got. Disney + took a major hit in subscriptions 2 days later and this movie was marked as a protest to send a message to Disney to stop trying to corrupt are children and I have to say it was very successful in that the movie flopped. Plus the subscription lost and the mass support of other uprising companies making good non political movies for are kids. It sends a clear message

Light-year flopped mainly for 3 reasons:
1) I'll come right out and say it. The lesbian marriage subplot was completely unnecessary, and it drove away a lot of viewers. Most parents do not want homosexuality rubbed in their kids' faces. Many people in Disney may try to hand-wave it away, but it is an issue.
2) The soundtrack, if there was one, sucked.
3) There was little to no dramatic tension. The chase scenes were boring, and the viewer never quite got the impression that the characters' lives were ever in jeopardy.

I loved The Toy Story franchise, but this just seemed like a plot Disney wanted to milk with Buzz, like it has nothing to do with toy story. MAYBE i might have seen it if they kept Tim, but i will honestly say that wasn’t why I didn’t watch this movie. It just wasn’t interesting enough, either the marketing was not good enough or it seemed to lack that charm most movies immediately have from the trailer. There was better competition anyways, with Top Gun (saw it 3 times! 🤣)

It bombed because it was too serious for kids and too boring for adults. No character was truly entertaining and while the story itself was not bad this movie had the issue that most kids movies have the opposite of: Extremely generic characters.

Toy Story 3 had the perfect ending. Part 4 was entertaining but unnecessary. Lightyear is just something that exists and it’s instantly forgettable.

This movie isn’t canon. Buzz Lightyear of Star Command is what the toy is based on. Buzz’s team includes Mira Nova, Booster and XR, not the screw ups in this movie. The partner that Buzz loses is Warp Darkmatter, not Alisha Hawthorne. Buzz is from Capital Planet, not Earth.
