How I Find Inspiration For My Abstract Landscape Paintings

As a little girl I grew up in the countryside surrounded by trees and fields. Since then nature and the surrounding landscape has been an important source of inspiration for my artwork.

Nearly every day I go on a walk and often I bring along my sketchbook. Today I would like to invite you along with me on one of these walks and show you where it all began. I'll show you what I look for when outside and how I let the environment and surroundings inspire my work.

I love to bring my sketchbook and paints outdoors and paint from nature. I also take a lot of photographs - but nothing compares to the sketches and small studies made outside directly from nature. Somehow I always end making work that is more unique than anything I could have come up with on my own back in the studio. Sketching is a way for me to bring nature back into my studio.

Thank you very much for concentrating on the focus of painting values and contrasts. So very easy to see this in black and white! I should do more of this.

Hiya Marie Louise, Thanks very much for another lovely and informative video that inspires. The shots of you sitting in the field with the contrast of dark looming clouds and brightness on you and the field would make a great painting. It's been really warm and sunny here in N.W England for the past week and today is no exception, I hope that you will have the same over in Denmark. I think that both of our countries have similar weather patterns where we can have four seasons in one day! Take care Marie Louise and stay safe and well.

This was lovely Marie!! Such a beautiful place you live in!!
This probably sounds odd, but I am dying to see what you pack...like seeing you on your little chair?, and a few things...it would be fine to see what you pack for your little outdoor excursions to paint. I enjoy it and even when I could work and we would cover a truck show(just photography and articles for a diesel mag) id bring a tiny watercolor set for my room because 18hr days wrecked me so I'd typically stay back at the hotel one day then back to work the next...but could paint a bit. In the spring in the south and east we'd always have some wild weather going in and out which meant gorgeous clouds. My husband always said I never has trouble knowing which set of pictures were mine once on the computer because I always had cloud, sunsets and different things mixed in with my racing pics😆😏
But I always kept a notebook and pencils with my in my work backpack so that on breaks I could draw some little things. Made my days much better...a bit of art release during a full day standing on a drag strip in 100degree weather 🤢
But, I ALWAYS brought too much and over thought it....and I have no clue how to bring paint, but I'd love to. So it would be cool to see you pack up your bag for an outing some day :) no pressure, just fun :)
This was super peaceful! Those horses were gorgeous!!
Thank you!!🥰
